5-DAY TRAINING IN CLEAN LANGUAGE

IN PORTLAND, OREGON, USA

with Marian Way

Dear Marian,
Imagine yourself in beautiful Portland, Oregon, in the spring...when the cherry blossoms are out... Bev has helped to spread the word and bring MANY registered participants to your Clean Language training and you are both thrilled as a result. :)

The above message, from Bev Martin to Marian, clearly demonstrates the power of language. For those 42 words set in motion discussions and actions which have resulting in this offering - Clean Language is indeed coming to Portland, Oregon!

Clean Language is a methodology devised by David Grove for helping someone to clarify their thinking. The word 'clean' refers to the intention to keep your assumptions out of the picture, so that the other person really is developing their thinking, their mental models. It is particularly powerful when it is used to develop the metaphors that someone uses naturally as they talk. Learning Clean Language will enhance your listening skills and your appreciation of the power of language and metaphor will grow exponentially. You can read more about Clean Language here.

This course is suitable for coaches, mentors, NLP practitioners, therapists, teachers, managers, parents – anyone who is interested in understanding others and the importance of good communication.

During the five days you will:

  • Learn all the Clean Language questions and how to ask them for maximum effect
  • Discover the power of metaphor and be able to help someone to develop the metaphors they use naturally to gain useful information about themselves
  • Learn a simple, yet powerful, Clean Language model for motivating others to take action
  • Expand your understanding of this simple model into a complete ‘framework’ for change
  • Uncover hidden assumptions in your own and others' language and get to the meaning behind the words and phrases you/they use
  • Learn how to differentiate between different kinds of information and ask questions designed to help someone to pay attention to a particular aspect of their experience
  • Begin to engage in the art of Symbolic Modelling by paying attention to patterns, metaphors and the inherent logic in someone’s metaphor landscape
  • Find out how to help someone develop an embodied sense of what it will be like when they have achieved their outcome
  • Begin to spot patterns in language and metaphors
  • Deepen your listening skills and learn how to read between the lines
  • Find out how having a 'clean' intention (i.e. keeping away from any questions which suggest change and honouring someone's existing mental models) can, paradoxically bring about the most profound change
  • Gain the skills and practice you need to be able to dip in and out of Clean Language or use it to work with a client from start to finish

Throughout the five days there'll be plenty of opportunities for observation, discussion, modelling and practice - and along the way you'll discover lots more about your own patterns of thinking and behaviour which will enhance your personal development.

As it may be some time before Marian can visit again, we encourage you to participate in the complete five-day training. However, if you just want to get a taste of Clean, you may attend for the first two days only (limited availability).
