After the regular ‘new member orientation’ we moved onto the topic for the evening: “Clean and …” Several people in the group use Clean in combination with other models and methodologies and the idea was to find out how they do this.
Our topic this month was “Directing Attention”. Of course, every Clean Language session is an exercise in directing attention.
No new members this month, so we got straight on with the main event: an activity based around the 'PRO' Model. This model was devised by Penny Tompkins and James Lawley to give facilitators a way to keep a client's attention on their desired outcome:

Welcome to Alison, who joined us for the first time this month. The meeting topic was 'Pure Practice', meaning that group members were free to choose which aspect of Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling to focus on. To help everyone decide, Marian handed out copies of the assessment criteria and briefly explained the various bits of terminology.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.apricotisland.com/practice-group/2009/9/22/modelling-perspectives.html"><rss:title>Modelling Perspectives</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.apricotisland.com/practice-group/2009/9/22/modelling-perspectives.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

September 21st, 2009

Welcome to Jennie and Sarah-Jane who joined us for the first time this month. We hope they enjoyed the meeting and look forward to seeing them again next time!

Our topic this month was "Modelling Perspectives". This was inspired by Penny and James's presentation at the recent Clean Conference, and indeed we used their ideas as the basis for our evening. We started with "I can't see my legs from here" - a short role play of a client session, acted out by Nigel and Marian, with everyone drawing models of what was happening. This was followed by a small group discussion about what perspectives the drawings were from. Some people had drawn their models from their own perspective and some had drawn them from the client's perspective. It was interesting to see all the different variations in the diagrams.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.apricotisland.com/practice-group/2009/8/21/clean-experiments.html"><rss:title>Clean Experiments</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.apricotisland.com/practice-group/2009/8/21/clean-experiments.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

August 17th, 2009

Thank you to everyone who came along to our first meeting at Crofton Community Centre. As it is August and the holiday season, there were fewer of us than usual, but still enough to do some "Clean Experiments"...

To a large extent, it's the discipline of Clean Language that makes it such a powerful process. The deliberate constraints we put on ourselves as facilitators gives more room for our clients to explore their own inner world and for new information to emerge. So we designed three "Clean Experiments" with additional constraints, to see what would happen.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.apricotisland.com/practice-group/2009/7/21/metaphors-for-aches-and-pains.html"><rss:title>Metaphors for Aches and Pains</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.apricotisland.com/practice-group/2009/7/21/metaphors-for-aches-and-pains.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

July 20th, 2009

Our topic for the evening was feedback, and we spent about 40 minutes discussing the kind of feedback we like to receive, as well as the practicalities of giving feedback.
