Personal Journey Weekend
It's All About You
with Marian Way and Phil Swallow
-
2 days just for you
- Explore what you would like to have happen
-
Gain new insights
-
Make new discoveries
Join us for these two days and you will have an opportunity to explore an issue in depth - any issue that's important to you. Whether you’ve an important decision to make, a habit you’d like to break or a project you’re stuck on, we can help you to clarify your thinking and break through patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be holding you back.
Or perhaps you’ve come to a crossroads in your life’s journey, and it’s time to consider where you’ve come from and where you’d like to go next…
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes
but in having new eyes.”
Marcel Proust (1871 – 1922)
This 2-day Personal Development Workshop includes:
- Introductions and briefing on the format of the weekend
- At least four one-to-one Clean Language / Clean Space sessions with either Phil or Marian (or, depending on numbers attending, with them both)
- Time and space for thinking, writing, drawing and reflecting between your sessions – Marian and Phil will help you to design activities to give you further insights
- Access to Internet and reference books to help you make sense of the symbols and metaphors that emerge in your work
- Tea, coffee, snacks and lunches
While you’ll be working in a group setting, this is very much a personal journey: you can choose to work on whatever you wish. We have found that many participants derive extra benefit from working in a respectful and supportive group setting.
"We all have things that worry us from time to time, that play at the back of our minds. I went through this sort of thing earlier in the year and when Marian mentioned she ran Personal Journey weekends for people who were looking for support in resolving personal issues, I thought it would be a good idea.
When I landed at Apricot island I received a very warm and gentle welcome which helped ease me into the weekend. There were three other people present as well but for each of us it was a chance to focus purely on our own thoughts. Marian was not there to tell us prescriptively what to do about our problems but instead acted as a prompt to help you go further with your own path of exploration, helping you make new, previously unseen, connections and to reflect back what you had been thinking to help you see your own thoughts more clearly.
Before I checked in at Apricot Island I had a certain amount of skeptical baggage with me but the weekend was very satisfying and has given me a great deal of insight into the way I think and ideas on how to change my behaviour. I heartily recommend the weekend to anyone with something about their own way of life they would like to change. And what's more the catering and setting were excellent!"
Adam Manning, Solicitor"Two things my new career requires of me are confidence and organisation. Thank you for your help in this. The weekend really did make a difference. I learned a great deal about myself and what I want. I'm still using my 'breastplate' to fight off doubts and fears - it really works well for me."
Alison
"Success means fulfilling your own dreams, singing your own song, dancing your own dance, creating from your heart and enjoying the journey, trusting that whatever happens, it will be OK. Creating your own adventure!"

Your Facilitators are Marian Way & Phil Swallow
Marian started her career as a maths teacher and later worked in Weight Watchers - as a group facilitator, a trainer, and finally as Programme Development Manager of Weight Watchers UK, where she and a colleague developed the POINTS diet. She later worked as a consultant to the organisation, in the UK and the USA.
A skilled facilitator and trainer, Marian has developed and delivered training programmes which have benefited thousands of people across the world. She has personally delivered trainings in England, Northern Ireland, the USA, Spain and Russia. She also works with individuals and groups to enable them to achieve their goals. She is an NLP Master Practitioner and Trainer who specialises in applications based on Clean Language, which involves paying exquisite attention to people and the language they use to express their ideas. She has facilitated several Personal Journey (or ‘Self-Modelling’) weekends.
Phil has always been fascinated by words, metaphor and meaning. For a time, he taught English as a Foreign Language then worked in the corporate communications industry before going on to build a background in NLP and hypnosis. Specialising in Symbolic Modelling and Clean Space, he has trained and supervised Clean practitioners in English and French and used Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling with clients in several languages. He now co-hosts a yearly residential retreat Clean facilitators and clients and is involved with Clean Language training in Canada and Russia. At home, Phil designs websites, has a private coaching and therapy practice in London and the Forest of Dean, and runs cleanforum.com, a free resource for all things Clean.I regularly attend Marian's Personal Journey weekends because of the benefits I receive from her facilitation and her ability to steadfastly adhere to a 'clean' philosophy of change. I can personally recommend her work.
