A few weeks ago, I read an article in my Toastmasters Magazine about a new presentation style that's been described as 'an antidote to bad PowerPoint'. Called Pecha Kucha (Japanese for ‘chit chat’), it’s a way of putting together and delivering a more dynamic presentation. It works because of two simple rules: you make exactly 20 slides, and deliver them in exactly 20 seconds each. Join Our Residential Clean Facilitator Programme this Autumn Our first residential training in February / March was a great success and I'm looking forward to being at our fabulous Gosport venue again for the complete 12-day Clean Facilitator programme this September / October (dates listed right). There are just 12 spaces available on each module, and many of those are already taken, so if you're thinking of joining us for any or all of the modules, early booking is essential (especially for the Pattern Spotting module, which is almost fully-booked). Full details are here. In July, there's an additional chance to attend Module 2: More to Explore. This is open to anyone who's completed Less is More (or equivalent course with another training company). Over these three days you will learn how to use Clean Language to work with clients' desired outcomes and to facilitate a session from start to finish. Earlier this month I travelled to the USA, where I first spent a couple of days in California with Sharon Small, helping her prepare for Less is More, which then took place in Avila Village with a lively group of participants. Sharon did a superb job of the training and she is now the first Apricot Island licensed trainer. Everyone who attended was keen to learn more, so on July 21- 25 Sharon is running both Less is More and More to Explore. (Book here) We then headed up to Portland, Oregon, for the third year running, for another five days of training with another fabulous group of people. We held this training in Michael Spandel's delightful new venue in Multnomah Village in Portland. Michael has attended the training each year and he is now starting a Clean Language Practice Group. The first meeting is in the same venue on Saturday June 5th, 10am to 12 noon - and everyone is welcome, including beginners. For more information, please email Michael: michaelspandel@gmail.com Two years ago, after the Portland training, I attended a course on Graphic Facilitation / Graphic Recording with Christina Merkley. I have since dabbled with Graphic Recording at various events, but it was my flipcharts that that really benefitted. So much so, that the Portland gang asked me to run a one-day workshop, "Flipchart Magic", while I was there: see some of our creations here. It was a great success and I would love to run it again, so if you would like to transform your flipcharts, please let me know and if there's sufficient interest I'll run a workshop in the UK. (No drawing or artistic ability is needed.)
Clean Language Features in Barclays £50k Competition Sheryl Andrews, who completed our Clean Facilitator programme last year, has big ambitions for Clean Language... She's entered a competition to win £50,000 to help her organise a 2-day event, centred around Clean Language, for the families in her local community. You can see Sheryl's application here. Please watch the video - and then click the 'thumbs up' to vote for her. If you've something on your mind you'd like to explore, a Clean Language coaching session may be just what you need. In recent months, I've helped people with issues as varied as weight loss, business building and relationship building. Every session starts with your answer to the question "What would you like to have happen?" which sets a direction for what is to come. Read the outcomes of some of my client's sessions over the years. And click here to read more about what happens in a coaching session and to book a session for yourself. Alternatively, book yourself on our Personal Journey weekend, coming up in September. These two days of Clean Coaching - with time for reading, thinking, drawing, walking etc. built in - have been described as a life-changing experience. And if you speak Spanish or Portuguese, here's how you can get some free Clean Language coaching: Jordan Collier, a participant on our training back in March, works as a coach in Barcelona and is keen to practice his newly acquired Clean Language skills with Spanish and Portuguese speakers. Please contact him direct: jordanlukecollier@googlemail.com Penny & James: Modelling Robert Dilts Modelling Penny Tompkins and James Lawley have been busy writing and recently published a major new article about modelling: a report on how they modelled Robert Dilts as he was modelling Martin Snoddon, who works in conflict resolution. The report includes nine video clips and a complete interview transcript. It documents step-by-step how Penny and James constructed their model. If you are a serious student of Clean Language, this is a must-read. Do You Work in Higher Education?
