Clean Language is a way of working with individuals and groups that allows you to keep your own assumptions and metaphors out of the conversation, as far as that is possible, so you are really working with the other person's perceptions. Developed by David Grove in the 1980s it is now being used for many different purposes, including:

  • coaching individuals and couples
  • facilitating meetings
  • team building
  • establishing a client's needs
  • gaining a better understanding of others
  • eliciting clients' metaphors in hypnotherapy
  • with cancer patients
  • achieving breakthroughs with clients
  • helping people find direction in their lives
  • own self awareness

  • The basic Clean Language questions and how to ask them for maximum effect
  • An understanding of metaphor and how the metaphors we use (often unconsciously) influence our behaviour
  • How to develop a client's metaphor

  • A powerful model for motivating yourself and others to take action
  • Enhanced ability to listen so others feel understood

There'll be opportunities for observation, discussion, modelling and practice - and you'll discover more about your own motivation strategies along the way.

You'll leave with a good understanding of the principles behind Clean Language and how to ask Clean questions in a way that acknowledges and honours individual perceptions - whilst gently drawing attention to the assumptions that are holding them in place. You will have taken your listening, thinking and questioning skills to a whole new level. And you'll have gained heightened awareness of the role that language - and especially metaphor - plays in forming our perceptions.

You will be ready and able to use the skills you've gained in your own context(s). And you'll have taken your coaching skills to a whole new level.

No previous knowledge of Clean Language is needed to attend and benefit from this course.
