Clean Language Facilitator ProgrammeLearn Clean Language With Ease at Apricot Island

Join our certification programme and become a Clean Facilitator

Clean Language is fast becoming recognised as one of the most effective forms of coaching there is. Used alone or in tandem with other coaching processes, Clean methodologies enable the client to access a different quality of information and new routes to deep, sustainable change.

At Apricot Island, we offer a straightforward, easily accessible certification programme which will equip you in these powerful Clean methodologies:

  • Clean Language
  • Clean Space and
  • Emergent Knowledge

These methodologies were developed by psychotherapist David Grove, and made accessible through the work of Penny Tompkins and James Lawley.

Our Clean Facilitator Certification programme comprises a total of 12 days:

Less is More An Introduction to Clean LanguageModule 1: Less is More (2 days)

A key principle of Clean is that the coach does less, and the client achieves more. Its basic structure is a set of clean questions, and during the first two days, you will learn these questions and how to ask them. You will unlock the power of metaphor and learn firsthand why it’s been described as a doorway to the unconscious mind. By the end of the two days, you will be able to guide others to access and delight in their own inner wisdom. And you will have experienced the intense satisfaction of being on the receiving end of such guidance.

"A superb experience, for both my personal and professional development.
Exciting, challenging, thought-provoking and informative.”
Julie Heavens, Coach

More to Explore Clean Language Module 2Module 2: More to Explore (3 days)

You will build on the basic skills learned in Less is More, by learning to use Clean Language to work with clients’ desired outcomes. You will learn how to steer their attention towards what they want, how to help them navigate their ‘metaphor landscape’ by overcoming problems and obstacles in the way, how to recognise changes that will happen before your eyes, and how to move your client to his or her desired conclusion. And you will experience the power of Clean for yourself as your fellow participants work with you towards your own outcomes.

"One of the best training events I have attended - the energy and pace were superb,
we worked hard and it was so very rewarding on several levels.”
Viv Bolton, Executive Coach

Pattern Spotting Clean Language Module 3Module 3: Pattern Spotting (3 days)

As you develop your Clean skills, you will become aware that different patterns underpin each of our lives. In this module you will gain in-depth understanding of the nature of such patterns as you hone your pattern-spotting skills. You’ll recognise the patterns that move us forward and those that keep us stuck and you’ll learn how to tease them apart using the complete Symbolic Modelling process developed by Tompkins and Lawley.

"Pattern Spotting took me to another level in my understanding and practice of Clean Language.”
Rachel Hankins, Consultant

Clean Space Clean Language Module 4Module 4: Clean Space & Emergent Knowledge (2 days)

Come and explore the idea that physical space can hold valuable for information for you and your clients: how you can use space as a way to separate and sort through information for fast and effective results. And now that you’re used to the principles of Clean and how you really can achieve more with less, you’ll also enjoy learning David Grove’s last innovative process, Emergent Knowledge.

"A rich space for conceptual learning, skills development and personal discovery.”
John Webber, HR Manager

Assessment for Learning Clean Language Module 5Module 5: Assessment for Learning (2 days)

Complete the Clean Facilitator programme with a fair and clear assessment of how you’re doing, based on observation of you in action. On this practical module, you’ll learn more about your strengths as a facilitator as well as which aspects of your work need more attention. If you meet the published criteria, you will be awarded our Clean Facilitator (Level 1) certificate. And if not, you will be offered specific suggestions – and every assistance – towards gaining your certificate at a later date.

"I felt utterly supported during the 2 days, and I was able to practice and hone my skills with the assistance of the written and verbal feedback following each session. Marian & Phil created an environment that was calm and conducive to learning at my best. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and the assessment felt like it was just another part of it.
Sarah-Jane Whitehouse, Coach

However you use what you learn over these 12 days, our Clean Facilitator programme is certain to improve your ability to listen and to notice finer distinctions in your clients’ language and non-verbal communication. And if you’ve ever wondered how you can really work within a client’s agenda – clean facilitation is the answer. Clean is neutral, so whatever arena you work in – coaching, therapy, business, health, sport, conflict resolution, education, stress management, community building, parenting – these skills will help you to make a real difference.
